Absolutely Loving It!

Now if you are reading this review, there is a high chance that you love photography and want to graduate from your cell phone to a dedicated camera (just like I did). I am a firm believer that equipment does not justify the craft. But I was tired of the fake depth of field and computational photography of all my cellphone cameras.

After about 3 weeks of using this camera, I was mind blown by everything that I could achieve with it. I can now crop to a very specific area of a picture and still retain the details (yes I have already started shooting in RAW). While I am still learning the exposure triangle, I’m boggled by how easy it is to change the ISO, Aperture and Shutter Speed in this camera while closely monitoring your composition in the viewfinder, versus doing the same in a pro-mode within the cellphone is very unintuitive. Even with the stock lens, the quality of the bokeh that you get at F3.5 is very pleasing. I absolutely love this device and I think I have made the perfect choice with this camera to begin my photography journey. Can’t wait to be able to afford some better quality lenses and get my mind-blown all over again. (don’t get me wrong, but there’s only so much you can do with the stock lens.) But the Sony Alpha system is way more accessible and affordable in terms of a wide variety of the best lenses from both Sony as well as the ones manufactured by 3rd parties. This was the primary reason for me to go for Sony Alpha, as most other systems out there are very expensive in terms of lens choices and upgrades. To add to this, I bought this while the festive sale was on and the deal could not have gotten sweeter.
